Following Sam’s plan, Operation Hot Sand is underway and we are enjoying ourselves in Southern California. The plan, or complete lack thereof, is hanging out wherever we feel like in the Los Angeles area and return to Utah on Monday-ish.
The Scion xB left Provo, Utah on Friday afternoon around 6-ish loaded with five passengers, Dave, Tessa, Sam, Jon, and myself. After people flaked out, including one of
the other drivers, we decided we would actually use a five passenger car to transport five passengers. Weird huh? Anyway, we set off for the roughly ten hour trip with me sitting in the most comfortable of seats, back middle. We were stocked with water, licorice, golden Oreos, and three laptops with music and videos ready for our adventure. The first four hours of the trip were through constant snow. (This being the driving force behind the whole trip… escape the cold.) Just before reaching Saint George, UT the snow finally stopped. In Vegas we stopped for In-N-Out and I claimed shotgun for the rest of the trip, which was less of a triumph and more of an agreement among everyone. Regardless, we continued on into the morning and arrived at Tessa’s parent’s house in Irvine around 3:30 local time. The planned part of our trip was done, since then we’ve been winging it.
